A reputation built to last
Armor Safe Technologies, in The Colony, TX, designs, manufactures and services smart safes and cash management systems. Its customers include quick-service restaurants, convenience stores, grocers and other cash-heavy retailers.
Founded in 1976, Armor celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2026. Its safes have earned a reputation for durability, but Armor knew that hardware alone would not keep it ahead.
The goal was to give retailers real-time visibility into every deposit and complete remote control of their safes, from anywhere.
Half a century of cash security
“Armor has been protecting retailers’ cash for 50 years,” says Larry Robinson, CEO and owner of Armor Safe Technologies. “The safes have changed a lot in that time. What our customers expect from them has changed even more.”
In October 2002, Robinson and three partners bought the company in a management buyout. Michael Robinson joined as employee number three. Over the next five years, the new team grew Armor tenfold.
As retailers moved from simple drop safes to smart safes that validate and count every note, Armor saw where the market was heading. Customers no longer wanted a safe that just locked cash away. They wanted to see it.
“The steel is only half the story,” Robinson explains. “Our customers want to know what’s in the safe right now, from anywhere. That takes great software.”
A partnership built on software
NamSys keeps innovating, and when we need something, they respond fast.
Armor’s relationship with NamSys runs deep. Armor acquired the CashNet product line and its patents from NamSys, then integrated its safes with the Cirreon Smart Safe dashboard to deliver real-time transaction reporting.
For Robinson, the deciding factor was the software itself and the team behind it. NamSys continues to invest in new Cirreon features, and its technical team is quick to respond when Armor or its customers need help.
“NamSys keeps innovating on the software side, and when we need something, they respond fast,” Robinson says. “That gives us a real competitive advantage.”
Real-time visibility, complete remote control
Customize. Connect. Compete.Keep customers connected with Cirreon Smart Safe: real-time monitoring, remote management and daily credit for every safe, in one centralized system.
Learn MoreWith Cirreon Smart Safe, Armor’s customers gain two big wins: faster cash reconciliation and full remote administration of every safe.
For one, smart safes take the guesswork out of closing the day. Each note is validated and counted as it goes in, and Cirreon reports every transaction in real time. One quick-service restaurant chain saved 14 hours of labor a week on cash reconciliation alone.
“That’s 14 hours a week managers can spend running the restaurant instead of counting cash,” Robinson says.
We can manage the whole safe without sending anyone to the store.
The other big win is remote administration. Cirreon’s remote administration modules let Armor and its customers manage user tables, permissions and firmware updates from one place, without a site visit.
“Who has access, what they can do, what firmware the safe is running: we can manage all of it without sending anyone to the store,” Robinson says. “That saves our customers time and saves us service calls.”
Fifty years in, setting the standard
Armor isn’t only growing its own install base. It is helping shape how the whole industry connects.
Fifty years ago we built safes. Today we build connected cash management.
When he looks back on half a century, Robinson sees a company that has kept adapting, and a partner that has helped it do so.
“Fifty years ago we built safes. Today we build connected cash management, and Cirreon is a big part of how we got here.”
